An Irish-bred son of Juddmonte stallion Dansili (Danehill) out of a daughter of Sadler’s Wells, Counsel has middle-distance performer written all over him. His dam Kitty O’Shea (Sadler’s Wells) is a full-sister to 2003 St Leger winner Brian Boru. She herself was a Listed winner and her first two foals have both won. Counsel’s second dam Eva Luna (Alleged) was a Group 3 winner and she has passed her talent onto her offspring being the dam of the afore mentioned Brian Boru, Group 2 winner Moon Search (Rainbow Quest), Group 3 placed Kushnarenkoro (Sadler’s Wells) and Soviet Moon (Sadler’s Wells) who although unraced, is the dam of Epsom Derby, Arc de Triomphe and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Workforce (King’s Best).

Unfortunately Counsel was really bogged down on his three year old debut recently at Doncaster on desperate ground. We hope to see a very different performance next time out.
