At Highclere Stud in October 2009
At La Grange in January 2010
In his first season, Motivator has produced Pollenator to win the May Hill (Gr 2) and Prompter (second in the Autumn Stakes (Gr 3) at Ascot) and his progeny proved to be very popular at the 2009 yearling sales.
Incitement settled in well with Ed Dunlop; he seems to have a very good temperament and showed a good action out at exercise up Warren Hill. Ed was delighted with Incitement’s general progress but felt the horse would benefit from a short break out of training and, having completed much of the basic groundwork, Incitement needed time to develop and strengthen up before moving to the next stage so came back to Highclere Stud for a break before returning to Ed at the end of May. He is a big colt and Ed says that he has grown again since returning to the yard. He will therefore continue doing steady canters while he strengthens and develops and is therefore unlikely to be seen on a racecourse before the back end of the season. He also said that Incitement has “a good brain” and a good attitude to his work, both of which are encouraging signs.
In mid July, Incitement did his first piece of half speed work on the watered gallop in Newmarket. Ed reported that Incitement went well and clearly appreciated a bit of give in the ground. He also mentioned that as it was Incitement’s first time on the grass he was, not surprisingly, a little green but is hopeful that he will come on for this experience and will continue stepping up his exercise over the next few weeks although Ed has stressed that this big, scopey colt should be given the time he needs to strengthen and mature.
