A really strong looking son of leading sire Oasis Dream, who produced Aqlaam to win the Prix Jacques Le Marois in 2009 and also Midday to win the Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Approve was a fantastic winner of The Gimcrack Stakes (Gr 2) at York on 18th August. It really was a tremendous performance from this tough colt who showed that he relishes a battle and certainly enjoyed the step up in trip. He looked tremendous in the parade ring beforehand and went to post with his ears pricked. In the race itself he broke very smartly and travelled particularly well before Eddie Ahern asked him 2½ furlongs from home to quicken and improve his position. He responded really gamely and gradually wore down the Brian Meehan trained Crown Prosecutor before asserting in the last hundred yards to win by ¾ of a length.
We are seriously considering supplementing Approve for The Champagne Stakes (Gr 2) at Doncaster on Saturday 11th September as we feel that he could improve further for a step up to seven furlongs. He is in great shape and has come out of his impressive win in The Gimcrack kicking and bucking. The track at Doncaster should suit him and a final decision will be made on Monday 6th September.
APPROVE HAS BEEN DECLARED TO RUN IN THE NEPTUNE INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT CHAMPAGNE STAKES (GR 2) AT DONCASTER ON SATURDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER. HE HAS BEEN DRAWN SIX OF THE SIX RUNNERS AND WILL BE RIDDEN BY EDDIE AHERN.
