Plea was bred by The Duke of Devonshire and is a half-brother to the Coronation Cup winner Ask. He is a very typical son of Motivator both in looks and temperament; he is also an impatient horse who wants to get on with his exercise and John Gosden is keen that he is given plenty of racing this season to keep his mind occupied.

Plea got total stage fright on his debut at Haydock on 8th May and showed his greenness both before and during the race. He was slowly away from the stalls but did make up the ground to join the rest of the field. Robert Havlin tried to settle him but he was very green in running and when the rest of the field quickened the colt was all at sea. Once it became clear that he wasn’t going to get into the frame Robert Havlin allowed Plea come home in his own time. John believes that this was the wake up call that Plea needed and fully expects him to improve significantly next time.

With the change in weather in early August, John said that Plea worked much better on soft ground on the round gallop. The horse loved getting his toe in and, as a result of this work, John is ready to give him a second run, ideally over a mile on easy ground. John is now keen to unleash Plea in the hope that we can see a much improved performance next time.

Plea was third on his next run at Bath on 9th September. More details to follow......
