Crievehill’s National Warm-Up

17th February, 2020

Kempton’s meeting on Saturday could provide a few clues for the Cheltenham Festival but Highclere Thoroughbred Racing will be hoping that Crievehill can advertise his wellbeing for the Aintree Festival and Grand National on 4 April.

The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained eight-year-old has already gained two wins from three starts over fences this season and he is an intended participant in the 888Sport Handicap Chase (formerly the Racing Post Chase), a £100,000 Grade 3 race over three miles.  There are 19 horses confirmed for the race at the five-day entry stage and Crievehill sits third in the weights on 11st 7lb behind Black Corton (11st 12lb) and Talkischeap (11st 10lb).

Crievehill was forced to miss his last intended engagement at Sandown due to the very soft conditions, but despite Storm Dennis causing widespread flooding throughout the country Kempton has this morning updated its current going as soft, good in soft in places.  With a reasonably fair forecast set for the remainder of the week, the expectation is that Crievehill will have favourable conditions on which to contest this weekend's big race.
