Durston Just Denied At Glorious Goodwood

2nd August, 2019

Durston improved again to run a very impressive race in the fiercely competitive Unibet Handicap on the second day of Glorious Goodwood. Silvestre De Sousa applied the usual hold up tactics which have seen Durston to victory the last twice. As the race started to develop, Silvestre sat very patiently with a double handful until a gap presented itself. He burst through the gap and thundered down the centre of the course in pursuit of Sir Ron Priestley, and the two pulled clear of the field. Durston battled courageously all the way to the line but just couldn't quite pass the classically tough Mark Johnston trained horse and was beaten a neck in second. Sir Ron Priestley holds group entries and is clearly thought very highly of so it was no mean feat going down so narrowly to him. Durston has improved leaps and bounds this season, and David Simcock is confident that on softer ground, over futher he could be a serious force to be reckoned with!
