family fortunes triumphant on highclere debut

10th April, 2017

Family Fortunes put up a fantastic performance on his debut in the Highclere silks on Friday evening when winning The 32Red Casino Handicap by a head!  The race got off to a bumpy start, with Family Fortunes taking a hefty knock on exiting the stalls but he quickly recovered to sit in third, travelling nicely under Jim Crowley.  He was thrown wide on the bend by another bump but improved from there to go into the lead with a furlong to travel.  Unbelieveably, he then took a third knock as another of the field began to hang left towards him, but despite breaking his momentum slightly, Family Fortunes rallied when challenged by Bershire Boy to stay on and pass the winning post a head in front, much to the delight of his trainer and the members of the Family Fortunes Syndicate!  A fantastic start to his career racing in the Highclere silks!
