Headway impressive on seasonal debut at Lingfield

6th March, 2018

The Royal Ascot Racing Club got their racing year off to a bang on Saturday when Headway flew home at Lingfield to take the Listed 32Red Spring Cup by storm!  Having broken slowly, Headway settled at the back of the field and still had plenty of ground to cover with two furlongs left to travel.  He still had five lengths to make up on the leader, Rufus King, within the final furlong and looked as though he had left his chellenge too late, however James Doyle pulled him wide and he showed an impressive turn of foot to cruise to the lead, winning by one length with the third-placed horse a further three and three quarter lengths behind.  This was a really pleasing return to the track from Headway, who will now be entered into both the German and French Guineas later this season.
