Hijack Impresses on Debut Over Hurdles

18th December, 2019

Hijack made an impressive winning debut over hurdles when taking the Tanners Wines “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle at Ludlow today.

The Nicky Henderson-trained gelding had been too green on his previous start in a bumper and despite jumping fluently at Ludlow he again showed signs of inexperience in the hands of Jerry McGrath.  Finding the track a little on the tight side, he was pushed along after four out but once his rider got him organised in the straight he surged clear on the run-in to win by a comfortable three and a half lengths.

Hijack appeared to handle the soft conditions well and gave the impression that he will stay further in time.  His esteemed trainer is likely to find something similar for him next time before potentially considering a step up in class.

Congratulations to all of his owners in the Fame Syndicate, hopefully the first of many wins from this promising four-year-old.
