HTR Bring Up Quick Fire Double

9th July, 2017

Highclere Racing share owners were celebrating across the country yesterday as Archetype and Bedouin landed strong wins at Sandown and Nottingham, respectively.

Archetype kicked off proceedings in the 4.40pm Download The Coral App Handicap at Sandown Park where he made every post a winner under a masterful ride from Oisin Murphy. The Simon Crisford trained colt flew the gates to land in front of the six horse field and, under a strong hold from Oisin, was able to drop anchor despite Archetype racing a touch freely early. Oisin soon had Archetype travelling comfortably rounding the home turn and the chasing pack were soon off the bit trying to keep up inside the two furlong pole. Archetype kicked well on the firm surface to run away a three-quarter length winner and show he is a progressive type who continues to improve at each of his starts. Archetype will now head to the Goodwood Festival next month.

Not long after Archetype, Bedouin rewarded the patience of his share owners in the Edward Lear Syndicate, and his trainer for that matter!, as he broke his maiden status at his seventh attempt at Nottingham in the Genting Casino American Roulette Classified Stakes over a mile and a quarter. Bedouin, a tricky customer at the best of times, was dropping back from a mile and half yesterday which looked to suit this son of High Chaparral, but had to be kept on task by jockey Luke Morris who certainly earned his riding fee, as he brought him wide to run over the top of the leaders inside the final furlong. It was great to see Bedouin break his duck and fingers crossed the penny is beginning to drop with him now.

We'll be looking to keep the ball rolling this week, with plenty of runners to keep the 26% strike rate going!
