If you say run triumphant on debut

18th April, 2017

We were delighted for the connections of If You Say Run, who made a winning debut in the Highclere silks yeaterday afternoon at Chepstow in The Army Cadets Supporting NSPCC Mares' Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at 5.55pm.  Ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies for trainer Paul Nicholls, If You Say Run made all in a race in which there was no early pace.  Turning for home, Sam asked If You Say Run to quicken, and she obliged readily to lead by a couple of lengths as the field entered the home straight.  The main challenge came in the form of the Colin Tizzard-trained Drinks Interval but he began to hang let as pressure was applied, with If You Say Run continuing on gamely to beat Rouergate by thriteen lengths.  We were delighted with both her performance and her attitude, despite being slightly green, and look forard to seeing her return to the track next season.
