Libran & Avdulla Reunite For Redemption in Sydney Cup

19th April, 2017

The re-run of the $2 million Group 1 Schweppes Sydney Cup will see a full field of fourteen face the starter on Saturday 22nd April at 3.35pm over the Royal Randwick two mile circuit. Libran will face a mixture of familiar opposition and new entrants for the race on Saturday which has seen Lasqueti Spirit, Boom Time and Harlem join those such as Big Duke, Polarisation, Who Shot Thebarman and Pengla Pavilion who also ran in the 'non-event' on the 8th April.

With Hugh Bowman unfortunate to receive a suspension in last Saturday's Group 1 All Aged Stakes, we were pleased to have Brenton Avdulla fill the void to re-engage with the son of Lawman who together hold a record of five starts, two wins, one second and one third at Royal Randwick. With the track continuing to dry out during the week, we are hopeful of finding a suitable good to soft surface which will be ideal for Libran.

Chris Waller reports our gelding to to be in great form at home and with the track continuing to dry out each day and Brenton now back aboard, after last year's close up second, he is expecting a big show from Libran in the $2 million Group 1 feature on Saturday. Wishing our share owners and all connections the best of luck!
