Libran Draws Perfectly In Stall Seven for the Melbourne Cup

5th November, 2017

With special thanks to VRC Chairman and fellow Libran share owner, Amanda Elliott, Libran's chances in the 2017 Emirates Melbourne Cup where given a significant boost after coming away from the official barrier draw with the prime draw in stall seven. With an ideal draw, low weight (fifty-three kilograms) and Dwayne Dunn in the saddle, Libran profiles as a outside chance to cause an upset in 'the race that stops the nation'.

Who Shot Thebarman was pulled out this afternoon due to an elevated temperature, leaving Libran as Chris Waller's only runner in The Cup this year, with Australia's leading trainer optimistic of Libran getting the chance to show his best in the $6 million contest. 'He has drawn perfectly in gate 7 in a capacity field of 24 runners in the time honoured Melbourne Cup. He should get a lovely run from the good gate, there will be a lot of pressure from horses drawn out wide so all we can do is hold our position and hope we don't get shuffled too far back and leave the rest to him. He comes into the race having five race starts so he has done the mileage and looks well so is ready to run well in what will hopefully be the race of his life.' Chris Waller

Wishing the Libran Syndicate share owners the very best of luck in the 2017 Melbourne Cup!
