Libran Hoping To Go One Better In Moonee Valley Gold Cup

25th October, 2018

The old stablemate rivalry will look to clash again on Saturday when Libran and Who Shot Thebarman meet again in the $500,000 Group 2 McCafe Moonee Valley Gold Cup on Cox Plate Day, this Saturday 27th October.

Who Shot Thebarman got his head down on the line in the race last year to fend off a fast finishing Libran, so Highclere shareowners will be looking for redemption this year with Libran in arguably better form heading into the race. His last start in the Metropolitan Handicap was outstanding considering he came from last in the full field to finish within two lengtsh of horses carrying 6kg less in weight. Back to the set-weights and penalties scale will play to Libran's favour in this, although he will have to overcome more than just his stablemate on the day with over thirty horses nominated for the race which has increased its prizemoney this year to half a million dollars.
