Pak Choi breaks his maiden at Kempton

27th March, 2018

Pak Choi put in an impressive performance at Kempton on Friday evening to come home victorious in The 100% Profit Boost At Handicap, shedding his maiden tag in the process. Sent off as the 5/6 favourite, hopes were high for this son of Paco Boy, but trainer Andrew Balding tried to keep our feet on the ground beforehand, saying that the race was more competitive than the market suggested! However, under a cool ride from Oisin Murphy, Pak Choi settled on the inside rail in third and travelled nicely for a majority of the race.  He made his bid for the line from two furlongs out, and pulled away from the second-placed horse, Cristal Pallas Cat, by two and a quarter lengths.  We are looking forward to seeing where Andrew decides to take Pak Choi next, as he has been put up 7lbs by the handicapper for his efforts.
