Pioneertown Bouncing Into Spring Return

24th September, 2018

While we couldn't quite get the hat-trick with Pioneertown at Moonee Valley during August, we couldn't have been prouder of his efforts so far in his first Australian preparation. Considering he has been in training since February, he was entitled to put in a flat run after racing without his usual 'go forward gusto' running style. Pioneertown has enjoyed a well-deserved freshen up at Lindsay Park with David Hayes reporting him to be "bucking and squealing" as we look forward to seeing him back in action on Saturday 29th September over 2000m at Mornington for his lead up race heading into the Spring.

Pioneertown will use Saturday as a lead up into the 2400m Benchmark 84 Handicap on Sapphire Stakes Day at Caulfield and if all is going well will hope to join Libran in racing on Melbourne Cup Day. While we hope to have Libran in the feature event, the Benchmark 96 Handicap over 2800m on the Melbourne Cup undercard looks a suitable target for this progressive stayer.
