Hostess carried off her purposely educational debut on the Newmarket July Course with the utmost professionalism. By Iffraaj, sire of the champion miler Ribchester, and half-sister to Highclere’s successful Garcia, we were  confident we had  a quality filly in Hostess. She handled the new atmosphere without the blink of an eye in the parade ring, left the stalls well and finished the race strongly for fifth place. Upon their return, Pat Cosgrave remarked that he had asked her to step up, which she did so well but there was nowhere for her to go at the business end and he had given her an easy finish.

Since then, things have moved very quickly for Hostess. She was second at Lingfield, before winning very easily (by 4 and a half lengths!) at Chelmsford. We have now made the decision to send this promising filly to California, under the tutelege of Simon O'Callagan. This talented filly is clearly thriving as she stormed to victory in the Providencia Group 3 at Santa Anita on her debut run in the US. She was unlucky on her next start in another Grade 3, encountering a wall of horses in front of her when she needed daylight. On her next run in a Grade 3 she looked the winner before Lady Prancealot swooped late to deny a second victory at Santa Anita.
