This filly is by Iffraaj, the sire of European Champion miler Ribchester, and is out of the Green Desert mare Ego, who herself was placed in the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes as a two-year-old.  She has already produced a Royal Ascot two-year-old called Self Centered, who was third in the Chesham Stakes.

Muchly joined six previous siblings in entering the winners’ enclosure in late October 2018. The form of that race was given a boost with the second winning a 1m Novice Stakes. Muchly made seriously good physical progress over the winter and promised to give the members of 5 Hertford Street a very exciting season.

She ran with credit in the Gr.3 Fred Darling over 7f at Newbury and it was felt that this filly would benefit from stepping up in trip in time.  John Gosden stepped her back up to one mile at the stiffer track at Ascot, a move that paid dividends under a masterful front-running ride from Frankie Dettori as they held on well for an exciting victory.

On her next outing she was just denied black type when finishing a good fourth in the Listed Height of Fashion at Goodwood.  She then gained that all-important black type when putting up another really good effort to finish third in the Coral Distaff (Listed) at Sandown and her last run was perhaps her best yet when finishing third in a 7f Listed race at Ascot, leading to inside the final furlong and beaten a little over one length at the finish.
