This filly is by Iffraaj, the sire of Eurpoean Champion miler Ribchester, and is out of the Green Desert mare Ego, who herself was placed in the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes as a two year-old.  She has already produced a Royal Ascot two year-old called Self Centered, who was third in the Chesham Stakes.

Muchly joined six previous siblings in entering the winners enclosure in late October. The form of that race was given a boost with the second winning a Novice Stakes. Muchly has made seriously good physical progress over the winter and promises to give the members of 5 Hertford Street a very exciting season. She ran with credit in the Fred Darling at Newbury and it was clear that this filly will benefit from stepping up in trip in time. However John Gosden decided to give her another chance over the same trip but on a much stiffer track at Ascot. This paid dividends under a masterful front running ride from Frankie Dettori and Muchly held on well for an exciting victory.

On her next outing she was just denied black type when finishing a good fourth in the Height of Fashion at Goodwood. It maybe that a stiff mile is her optimum trip, but she will also be competitive over an easy mile and a quarter. She put up another really good effort to finish third in the Coral Distaff (Listed) at Sandown next time, having taken an early lead before being headed one furlong from home. Her next run in a Listed contest at Haydock saw her run a solid race to finish fifth but only beaten just over four lengths.
