Cabaret Queen

Cabaret Queen would have been a valuable breeding property had she not proved to be a special race-mare. She is from the last crop of Champion jumps’ sire, King’s Theatre. Among his champions have been Cue Card, The New One,  Menorah and L’Ami Serge.

Cabaret Queen has never been out of the frame in seven outings and has won both her steeplechases. There should be rich pickings from the revamped jumping programme for mares and Dan Skelton has Listed chases in mind to raise her value exponentially. What’s more her mares’ allowance will give her a head start in races open to geldings too. She beat them in her chases which were handicaps and saw her rating raised by a stone to 130. She has found it difficult to compete off that weight so far this season and does seem to perform better in faster conditions. She will run again as the ground turns more in her favour.

Her latest effort was a good one at Cheltenham where she finished fourth and would have been much closer but for a mistake at the fifteenth fence. She was recently sold at the Goffs Spring Sale.
