Flotilla
Cable Bay is by the exceptional sire of sires Invincible Spirit and he was a really tough racehorse, winning at Group level and placing in numerous other Group races. However, as a stallion his achievements are already exceeding his not insignificant record on the track as he has had winner after winner and numerous classy ones like the Group-winning sprinter Liberty Beach (winner of almost £150,000 in prize money). The dam Ancestral Bay has a perfect record of four winners from four runners to date and she’s a half-sister to the black-type earners Night Flight and Christmas Kiss, from the family of Champion 3yo miler in Italy and multiple Group race winner King Of Clubs.
Flotilla made her debut at Goodwood but was unable to act on the heavy ground. She ran on better ground next time out at Yarmouth but was not able to finish off her race. She had her next run at Bath, which was described as good to soft, but the jockeys reported that it was in fact quite testing. Ed Walker was naturally disappointed, however is adamant that she is a much better filly on fast ground and is more capable than she has shown on the racecourse. She ran a somewhat improved race at Chelmsford on the all-weather to finish 8th.
Following another disappointing run at Wolverhampton Flotilla has been retired from racing.
