Danse Idol

Danse Idol won a point-to-point and was also runner-up in her Punchestown mares’ bumper to Relegate, the subsequent Champion Bumper winner at Cheltenham for Willie Mullins.

It was easy to understand why Paul has been so sweet on her and her siblings have won 38 races on the Flat and Paul’s useful winning hurdler Dan McGrew is also by Danse Idol’s emergent jumps’ sire Dansant.  She was the talk of the National Hunt scene following her hurdles debut victory at Wincanton in December 2018, where she led some fancied rivals a merry dance and won very comfortably. This progressive mare then finished second in two Listed contests, at Doncaster as well as a Grade 2 novices’ hurdle at Sandown, prior to winding her season up with an impressive 7-length win at Fontwell in April.

She appeared to need the run on her seasonal reappearance in a valuable mares' handicap hurdle at Wincanton, travelling strongly until tiring approaching the second last, and then ran a much better race at Kempton where she finished her race off strongly when taking third place.  She finished third on her latest start at Wincanton before she was sent off for a summer break.

The feeling is that she may not be seen at her best until she tackles fences, something we are looking forward to with some excitement as she jumps so well.
