Danse Idol

Paul Nicholls has very high hopes for our six-year-old mare and he does not take much prompting about her!  Her record and breeding speak for themselves.

Danse Idol won a point-to-point and was also runner-up in her Punchestown mares’ bumper to Relegate, the subsequent Champion Bumper winner at Cheltenham for Willie Mullins.

It was easy to understand why Paul has been so sweet on her and her siblings have won 38 races on the Flat and Paul’s useful winning hurdler Dan McGrew is also by Danse Idol’s emergent jumps’ sire Dansant.  She has been the talk of the National Hunt scene since her hurdles debut victory at Wincanton in December 2018, where she led some fancied rivals a merry dance and won very comfortably.

This progressive mare has since finished second in two Listed contests, the latest at Doncaster, as well as a Grade 2 novices’ hurdle at Sandown, prior to winding her season up with an impressive 7-length win at Fontwell in April.  She appeared to need the run on her seasonal reappearance in a valuable mares' handicap hurdle at Wincanton, travelling strongly until tiring approaching the second last, giving the impression she would improve again as this season progresses.

The feeling is that she may not be seen at her best until she tackles fences, something we are looking forward to with some excitement as she jumps so well.
