This precocious-looking son of Dark Angel is in training with Tom Dascombe in Cheshire.

He has been unlucky not to get his head in front already and has finished second or third on no fewer than five occasions. Sermon’s only unplaced effort came in the highly competitive Goffs sales race at the Ebor meeting, although in finishing a highly creditable seventh to Mum’s Tipple he picked up more than you would winning most races and again showed that he is more than capable of winning very soon.

He was very unlucky Catterick when he was forced to wait a very long time in the stalls and became agitated which resulted in missing the break. Despite making up plenty of ground and only finishing a couple of lengths off the winner, it was always going to be impossible to make up the ground.  He then caught a tartar in the highly-progressive Ainsdale at Nottingham, handling the heavy going well and giving the impression that a step up to six furlongs would suit.

Semon is now back in training following a winter break and was unlucky first time up at Haydock where he encountered traffic problems but also looked as if he would come on for the run. He looked all over the winner at Haydock next time before just being run out of a well deserved victory. Sermon finally got his victory at Wolverhampton on the all weather. There were plenty of rivals lining up but Sermon put his head down in front and kept galloping. Sermon has been a very consistent horse for highclere, so it is great to finally get a well deserved win under his belt. He ran another fantastic race at Haydock next time to come fourth, only a length behind the winner and put in yet another very solid effort coming thrid next time out again at Haydock by only half a length. Sermon then put in yet another cracking performance back at the same track where he jumped fast from a wide draw but just emptied inside the last half furlong to come fourth. Sermon got his head in front again in his most recent run at Wolverhampton under a superb ride from Richard Kingscote. This was very well deserved for Sermon who always puts in maximum effort!
