Luminate (IRE)

This beautiful daughter of top sire Lawman looks very like our own Chartreuse who Freddy Head has trained brilliantly to win a Listed race and be multiple Group placed. She too, therefore, will be trained by Freddy where hopefully lightning will strike twice!   She is beautifully bred being out of the Rainbow Quest mare Kalandara who was a half-sister to the great Kalanisi who won the Breeders’ Cup Turf (Gr1) and the Dubai Champion Stakes (Gr1), amassing over £1.3 million in prize money. This, therefore, is one of the Aga Khan’s great families and to have bought her for only 85,000 euros is incredibly exciting. Another key reason why we were interested in buying her was because she is a half-sister to Paradise Lake a son of Siyouni, who John paid 320,000 guineas for as a yearling last year.  Owned by Bermuda Thoroughbred Racing that we manage for Simon Scupham, he is trained by Sir Michael Stoute and is very well regarded so he could well increase this fillies value significantly. She is a scopey filly with great presence and she moves beautifully so there are ticks in all the boxes!

Luminate has been the star of the two-year-old crop remaining unbeaten in two starts, including an impressive victory in the Prix de Conde (Gr 3) at Chantilly. She was declared to run in the Criterium de St-Cloud which was unfortunately abandoned due to strike action! Freddy Head will train her for a trial with the aim of running in the Prix de Diane (Group 1).
