We acquired 50% of this impressive son of Muhaarar, having shortlisted him at the Book 1 sale, with his trainer Kevin Ryan retaining the other half.  Muhaarar was the Champion 3yo Sprinter in Europe in 2015, winning an impressive list of Gr.1 and Gr.2 (including the Gimcrack) races.  This colt is half-brother to the Gimcrack (Gr.2) winner Blaine as well as the winner of the Totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy, both also trained by Kevin Ryan.

After Byline's highly encouraging debut at Ayr, where he was very green during the early stages and only just denied a debut victory, he learnt plenty and flew three and a half lengths clear to win impressively second time out at Hamilton. He went on to run a solid race in the Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes at the Ebor Festival at York, running prominently early on before fading inside the final furlong. His jockey reported that he would have preferred a bit more give in the ground.

Byline ran his only disappointing race at Ayr next time when seemingly never getting into his stride. Both jockey and trainer were at a loss to explain the poor performance and Byline was subsequently gelded.  Following a winter break, has has done well physically and ran made a really encouraging comeback to finish a close up third at Haydock before getting stuck in very testing ground at Newmarket's July meeting. He ran a fantastic race at Leicester next time out to win very decisively under Kevin Stott.   Unfortunatley on his next run at Newmarket he hated the ground and ran a dissapointing race, however we will put a line through the race and move on to the next where he was a lot more promising to only be beaten last minute by a length and a half. Kevin was very pleased and said he had run a cracking race however the extra half furlong was just too far. He was entered to run in the Silver cup at Ayr, however the ground didn't suit so didn't run. He is entered to run at Ripon this Saturday.
