Pesto (GB)

This outstanding colt has the makings of a very fun horse. By New Approach, who was himself a very impressive European Champion, and Derby Winner, Pesto is typical of New Approach progeny and has taken a little time to come into himself.  His dam is from a family that we know very well. Pickle, a multiple Group Three winner herself, produced one of our great horses in Gusto (trained by Richard Hannon Snr.)

Pesto's debut race at Newbury was very green and immature, but he then managed to get a grasp of the game in his second start at Sandown on July 25. He ran a fabulous race there, and we were very pleased to see such a progressive race. To add value to this run, his debut was the best juvenile maiden at Newbury this season!

He went on from that to win at Leicester on August 12 2018 by an easy 4 lengths. Oisin Murphy rode him and described him as “still very raw” which is exactly what you want to hear with a young horse showing so much development into himself and racing style.
