Platform Nineteen

Platform Nineteen, who takes his name from the Waterloo to Ascot service for that delightful week in June when the racing world is drawn to the Royal Meeting. He is by Australia and out of Susan Stroman. Australia was Champion Three-Year-Old Colt in Europe in 2014, winning multiple Group Ones including the Investec Derby, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby and the Juddmonte International Stakes.

Platform Nineteen was bred by Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber’s Watership Down Stud and his dam, Susan Stroman, is a half-sister to The Fugue. The Fugue was Champion Older Mare in 2013 and 2014. A multiple Group One winner, The Fugue’s credentials include Irish Champion Stakes, The Nassau Stakes, The Prince of Wales Stakes and the Yorkshire Oaks.

Platform Nineteen had one run for experience as a two year old and will only be seen at his best once he steps up to a mile and a half. Unfortunately he got off to a false start when getting loose before his three year old debut at Nottingham and was withdrawn before the race. He behaved much better next time at Ripon where he was running on at the end of the race and showed that there will be improvement to come with further experience. He ran with great credit on his handicap debut at Catterick, where he was once again doing all his best work at the end of the race, finishing second. He put up by far his best performance to date when stepping up in trip to two miles, winning by eight lengths at Beverley and showing that he is a nice stayer in the making. He then followed up with another great win at Nottingham and looks to be progressing with every race.
