This gelding is by Champion sire Oasis Dream out of Listed winner Pure Excellence. Trained by Richard Hannon at his Herridge Racing Stables, he was viewed as an exciting prospect and won on debut at Ascot with Oisin Murphy aboard in the prestigious Crocker Bulteel Stakes.  He was later placed third in a decent novice race at Redcar and ran creditably on his final outing before being put away for the winter, in a strong nursery won by Highclere’s colt Luxor.

Production benefited from his first run of 2019 and was unfortunate next time at Newmarket as he encountered trouble in running yet was beaten only a little over two lengths at the line.  After another fair run at Doncaster, he bounced back to from when winning well at Redcar having stepped up in trip to a mile and a quarter for the first time. On his next outing at Sandown he finished fourth in what was a competitive affair, once again showing he stayed the trip and could even get further in time.

He was then moved to Alan King for whom he had a brief career over hurdles.  Clearly not a natural jumper, he returned to the Flat in the care of Ed Walker and made a promising start when finishing sixth of twelve runners at Haydock. Next time out he ran a solid race but found himself too far back in the field and was unable to make up the ground in time when the race developed. His run at Newbury after this was an improvement to finish 5th of fifteen runners, he just struggled again in the final stages of the race as the pace turned- he ran a very similar race next time out at Sandown where he travelled powerfully but struggled in the closing stages. After running very consistently he put in a very below par performance at Bath and wasn't responding to Tom Marquand's strong urgings but he drew a line through this to come out second by only three quarters of a length at Kempton. The step back in trip to six furlongs was much more suited. He has run again over this trip under Ed's apprentice Hannah Fraser where he finished third of nine runners. His last run before being put away for the winter was somewhat dissapointing at Kempton. However, he has had quite a busy time of things and is probably ready for a break now. He is handicapped to win a race and hopefully after a freshen up he will do just that!
