Winner of the 1899 Triple Crown for the 1st Duke of Westminster, Flying Fox was retired and then sold to France following the Duke’s death in December. Successful in 9 of his 11 races and unbeaten at three, he became a very good stallion although dieing relatively early at the age of fifteen. In his picture in The Jockey Club Rooms, he is ridden by Mornington Cannon, the last jockey to be champion using the classic English seat.
