Isinglass won the Derby in 1893 and he also took the Triple Crown. Remarkably in the same year he also won the Ascot Gold Cup. Indeed he only lost once in twelve appearances spread over four years. That single defeat came over only a mile on unsuitable going in the Lancashire Plate at Manchester. There he failed by a length to give 10lbs to Raeburn soon after his Leger win but even then had La Flèche back in third.
