National Hunt
Jumpers were first offered by HTR in 2009 and standing alone the National Hunt division boasts an impressive win/place strike rate. With over 60 horses in training HTR's National Hunt roster makes up an ever-growing proportion of around one quarter of the horses currently in training.
An early success was Bury Parade who was the winner of six races in Highclere's famous pale blue silks. He was at his best in 2013/14 when he won both The Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Graduation Chase at Kempton and The Sodexo Handicap Chase at Ascot.
The current crop of National Hunt horses looks to be extremely promising with the very useful mares Posh Trish, Danse Idol and If You Say Run, the smart chaser Ballywood and a host of exciting youngsters.
The horses are purchased from a variety of backgrounds, including France and the Point-to-Point fields of Ireland, by carefully selected bloodstock agents as well as the racehorse trainers themselves. As with our Flat horses, the jumpers are placed with the best trainers in the National Hunt game, including the likes of multiple time Champion trainer Paul Nicholls, the current Champion Trainer Nicky Henderson, Alan King, Nigel Twiston-Davies and Dan Skelton, who is raising the bar amongst the next generation of trainers.
