Karen was always a keen runner and climber, but aged 21 she fell from a cliff whilst climbing and became paralysed from the chest down. The accident did not thwart her love for adventure and with creativity, hard work and a strong perseverance, Karen has proved that almost anything is still possible.
A full-time athlete with the Brish Para-Cycling Team, Karen won silver at London 2012 and then became Paralympic Champion in the Handcycling road race at the Rio 2016 Paralympics. Despite being a fully committed athlete, Karen continues to push boundaries in exploration.
Her adventures include climbing El Captain Mountain in Yosemite National Park in 2008, biking through the Himalayas on hand baikes, a three-month odyssey kayaking from Canada to Alaska, a 1250km journey through Patagonian in 2016, and she has recently completed an adverture following Australia's Murray River on bike and boat.
