Victoria Pendleton is one of Great Britain’s most successful female Olympians having won a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 for the individual sprint and another at London 2012 in The Keirin. She dominated the sport from 2005 to 2012 winning nine World titles including a record of six in the individual sprint competition. Having retired from cycling she set herself a new challenge to ride in the Cheltenham Foxhunters and within a year of learning to ride Victoria finished fifth in the race, an achievement applauded and admired by racing professionals around the country.

William Haggas has long been one of Highclere’s principal trainers, having enjoyed huge success with the likes of Brunel, Approve and Collection, and this combination with one of the legends of the turf, Freddy Head, is sure to prove very popular, not least due to the brilliant trips to Chantilly! William has enjoyed a season to remember in 2016, comfortably exceeding his personal best for number of winners, which is testament to all the improvements he has made at Somerville Lodge in recent years. Freddy Head has been responsible for the careers of some real superstars and masterfully handled Chartreuse for Highclere who was desperately unlucky not to win at Group level, but being a beautifully bred Listed-winning filly she is sure be popular at this year’s December Sales.
