Andrew Balding

Andrew Balding joined our training ranks in 2010 and gave us a winner with his first Highclere runner in the shape of Baptist at Newbury. Andrew succeeded his father in January 2003. The Balding family is steeped in racing history as, of course, is their Kingsclere Park House Stables. The bronze statue of Ian Balding’s Derby winner Mill Reef stands sentinel in the yard.

Andrew made immediate impact in his first year when Casual Look won the Group 1 Vodafone Oaks. Since then he trained the globe-trotting Phoenix Reach to win Group 1 races in Hong Kong, Canada and Dubai. Indeed Andrew has trained winners at the highest level in every major racing country in the world.

A hundred winners and £2m prize money are landmarks passed, comfortably, each year since 2012. Last year was Andrew's best season to date and he is closing in fast on the win and prize money totals in 2018.
