Freddy Head

Location: Chantilly, France.  Freddy Head is the only man to have won Breeder’s Cups both as a jockey, on Miesque, and as a trainer with Goldikova. Head had an illustrious background as a jockey, having ridden a Prix de l’Arc winner, Ivanjica, for his father Alec and for his sister, Criquette, aboard Three Troikas.

Among numerous champions Freddy has expertly handled from his Chantilly Stables since he began training in 1998 are the careers of multiple Group 1 winners Marchand D'Or, Goldikova, Moonlight Cloud and Charm Spirit. He sent out Solow to win an unprecedented sequence of nine Group races, five of them at Group One level.

Freddy did a fabulous job with Highclere’s filly Chartreuse who was sold for 825,000gns, over seven times her purchase price, having won the Listed Prix Sorellina and placed many times in Group company. Luminate has won two Group races for Highclere and was genuinely unlucky not to win a third.
