Hugo Palmer

Hugo Palmer is another exciting talent among a generation of young trainers supported and promoted by Highclere.

He established himself after just two years training at Kremlin Cottage Stables, Newmarket, with Covert Love’s two Group One victories in the Irish Oaks and the Prix de l’Opera. Hawksmoor, German Two Thousand and Unforgettable Filly the German One Thousand Guineas and the Dick Hern Stakes, quickly followed. Then came Hugo’s biggest triumph to date, Galileo Gold’s Two Thousand Guineas followed by the same colt’s Group One St James’s Palace Stakes.

Hugo learnt his trade from top trainers around the world including Gai Waterhouse in Australia. He widened his knowledge at Cheveley Park Stud and at Highclere Stud under the watchful eye of John Warren.

Gifted Master was Hugo’s latest headline grabbing winner, carrying topweight to victory in the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood last month. Highclere people have been taken by Hugo’s dedication and natural charm – and we look forward to an enduring association..
