Michael Bell

Michael Bell has been training at Fitzroy House, Newmarket since he took out his licence in 1989. After a memorable season in 1994 which saw six individual Group winners, his success caught the eye of Harry Herbert.

Michael has trained a string of top class horses for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, including Housemaster (fourth in the Epsom Derby in 1998), Regime, Revenue and Motivator who in 2005 stormed to victory in the Derby for the Royal Ascot Racing Club.

Michael also saddled Sariska to complete his Group 1 Epsom Oaks/Irish Oaks double in 2009; Art Conoisseur the Group 1 Golden Jubilee the same year and in 2010, Margot Did to take the Group 1 Nunthorpe. Michael travelled Wigmore Hall to Canada where he landed the Group 1 Northern Dancer Stakes.

The highlight of 2017 Royal Ascot was Michael’s Big Orange’s head-bobbing defeat of Order of St George to land the Gold Cup.
