Michael Bell

Michael Bell has been training at the historic Fitzroy House in Newmarket since he took out his licence in 1989. After a memorable season in 1994 which saw 6 individual Group winners, his success caught the eye of Harry Herbert who sent him a yearling for the first time.

Since then Michael has trained a number of top class horses for HTR including Housemaster (fourth in the Epsom Derby in 1998), Regime and Revenue and in 2005, Motivator stormed to victory in the Group 1 Epsom Derby for the Royal Ascot Racing Club.

He also saddled Sariska to complete the Group 1 Epsom Oaks/Irish Oaks double in 2009, Art Conoisseur to land the Group 1 Golden Jubilee the same year and last season, Margot Did won the Group 1 Nunthorpe while Wigmore Hall travelled to Cananda where he landed the Group 1 Northern Dancer Stakes. Michael had his most successful season in 2008, sending out a personal record of 76 winners.
