Philip Hobbs

Philip Hobbs had a successful career as a jockey riding 160 winners before turning his mind to training. This was a lifelong ambition as his father Tony Hobbs also trained successfully for many years.

Philip and Sarah Hobbs started with just six horses in 1985 and have never looked back, since then Hobbs has sent out over 2,500 winners. Philip has trained seventeen winners at the infamous Cheltenham Festival and has twice finished second in The Grand National. Synonymous with the name Hobbs is that of his first string jockey, Richard 'Dickie' Johnson who has been with him for some 17 years. Both are fiercely competitive with Johnson looking to win his fourth Champion Jumps Jockey title and Hobbs setting himself the goal of winning 100 races and £1 million in prize money every season.
