Richard Hannon

As well as being renowned for his ability to train a large number of two-year-old winners, Richard Junior also excels with the older brigade.

Taking over from his father, the esteemed Richard Hannon Senior, he made an immediate impact in his first season training in 2014, winning the 2,000 Guineas with Night Of Thunder and the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot with Toronado. That season was certainly no flash in the pan and Richard is now entrenched as one of Europe’s finest trainers, winning a Group 1 race in every season since.

Billesden Brook was another recent Classic winner for the prolific handler and she chalked up a further Group 1 victory in 2019, adding to other top-flight successes from Barney Roy, Pethers Moon and Tiggy Wiggy.

Dual Group 2-winning two-year-old Threat has been just one to fly the flag for the juveniles in 2019, helping Richard break through the £3million prize money barrier once again. Facilities at Herridge Stables are top-class, particularly for visiting owners, with champagne and sausages in abundance!
