In February 2011, ill health forced Michael Jarvis to retire from training and consequently gave his long-time assistant, Roger Varian, the license to train from Kremlin House Stables in Newmarket. Michael was known as “the trainer’s trainer” with a tremendous reputation and quite rightly so as he consistently produced horses to perform at the highest level and to do so all over the world year after year.
Their biggest success for Highclere came when Tiger Eye won the inaugural running of the Tattersalls Timeform Fillies’ 800, which carried a first prize of over £400,000. Roger saddled our own Dominant to win a valuable sales race at Newmarket in June and has clearly shown that under his management Kremlin House will continue to thrive and produce top-class racehorses.
