Roger Varian
Roger Varian has settled quickly into the new surroundings at Carlburg stables, which he bought in 2017 from Clive Brittain. Roger has invested heavily in refurbishing the yard and brought the facilities, including an equine swimming pool and treadmill, bang up to date.
He has also built the smartest reception room in Newmarket to welcome owners. Roger has earned a reputation for his patient handling of his horses and has trained over a hundred winners again this season with earnings of over £2,500,000 in prize money. This year’s haul of winners includes Zabeel Price (Prix d’Ispahan (Group 1)) at Longchamp and Defoe’s Group 1 success in the Coronation Cup at Epsom.
Roger’s great experience may be somewhat masked by his youthful appearance, but he has trained no less than 17 Group 1 winners to date and more than 100 Stakes winners across the globe.
