This colt is by dual-Classic winner Lawman, the sire of no fewer than five Group 1 and two Classic winners, with Just The Judge winning the Irish 1,000 Guineas (also second in 1,000 Guineas) and Harbour Law the St Leger.  He is also the sire of Highclere’s Group 3-winning filly Luminate who was sold for 900,000 guineas.  Lawman is a son of sire of sires Invincible Spirit (Kingman, Charm Spirit, Mayson etc.) and our colt is the second foal out of Finagle, a half-sister to the Listed winner and Gr.1 Beverley D Stakes second Gifted Girl.  Click here to view sire information about Lawman.

This colt looks to have been incredibly well-bought at the sales for only £33,000, especially as his pedigree received a significant boost only a few days later when his half-sister Nurse Barbara was beaten a nose in a six-furlong Listed race at Leopardstown.  Her trainer Ger Lyons then thought highly enough of her to run in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes, in which she could have finished closer than sixth had she not taken a false step a furlong from the finish.

Deputy's trainer Charlie Fellowes is buzzing with enthusiasm about his future.   He is the most lovely individual with excellent conformation and a really athletic walk.

Deputy ran a blinder first time out at Thirsk, completely missing the break and then running green, but he made up a huge amount of ground when flying down the home straight. He experienced a minor set back before running twice on the all weather, after which he was gelded and given a break. He is back in full training and Charlie Fellowes is looking forward to getting him back on to the track soon.
