In February 2020 Highclere purchased 50% of this horse in training with Ed Walker.

Parachute is by Sea The Stars one of the leading sires standing at stud in Europe having sired the Group 1 winners Crystal Ocean (Prince of Wales), Star Catcher (Irish Oaks), Stradivarius (Champion Stayer last two years), Sea of Class (Irish Oaks), Harzand (Investec Derby) and Taghrooda (King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes). It is some record!!

Parachute is the first foal of his dam, Fly, who won three of her five starts and she is a half sister to Seal of Approval who won the QIPCO British Champions Fillies/Mares  Stakes (Gr 1). This is a wonderful family of the Aga Khan’s that traces to the Investec Derby winner Harzand who is also by Sea The Stars.

Ed took things steady in the build up to his first run at Sandown where he was very green, jumping out slowly and having to be coaxed along, but he finished his race a lot better than he started. Parachute came on from his debut to run an absolute blinder on desperate ground to finish second at Newmarket behind a smart Godolphin horse. Parachute got his head in front on his final run of the season to win at Lingfield under Tom Marquand. He was drawn wide and made easy work of a competitive field- we clearly have a very exciting horse on our hands for this season.

Parachute made his three year old debut in a handicap at Redcar, where unfortunately the race was run at a muddling pace and he found himself blocked on the rail. By the time he was switched to the outside, the race was over. He then won in really good style when overcoming the hotly fancied Godolphin runner Echo Point on 1000 Guineas day. Parachute put up a bold performance in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot, just to be headed in the final half a furlong. His next run was very unlike him and he did a bit too much early on and couldnt get home. He then lined up in the Melrose Handicap at York, but didn't stay the 1m6f.

He dropped back in trip to a mile and a half next time and put up a really good effort to finish fourth in a very competitive handicap at Newbury. He was gelded and given a winter break. He is now back in tarining with Ed and will surely give his owners plenty of action this season.
