Tudor Queen

Tudor Queen is a very attractive daughter of Starspangledbanner we managed to snap up for £30,000 at the relocated Goffs Orby Sale in Doncaster.

She is by the Australian bred sire Starspangledbanner, son of the mighty Choisir. Starspangledbanner won 7 of his 23 starts, accumulating over £1.2 million in prize money. He was the Champion Sprinter in Australia at 3 and Champion Older Sprinter in Europe at 4. His European campaign at 4 included wins in the G1 Darley July Cup, G1 Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and 2nd in the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes. He boasts a 56% runners to winners strike rate, siring 2 of the first 3 juvenile blacktype winners this season.

Her Dam, Queen Elsa only ran once at 3, but is from a winning family. Tudor Queen's 2nd Dam, Spring Suprise was a winner at 2, and produced 3 winners from 5 runners. Queen Elsa is a half-sister to Toocoolforschool, twice a winner at 2, and winner of the G2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes, and to Spring Baroness, a 6 time winner and dam of Show Me Show Me, a winner at 2 and placed 3 times including when 3rd in the G3 Markel Morecomb.

She is in training with Kevin Ryan at his stables in Thirsk. Kevin has had a great relationship with Highclere horses having trained the filly Inetrobil to win the Listed Cecil Frail in 2012, the useful Knighted who won an impressive four times in 2018 and Byline an impressive 2yo winner in 2019.

Tudor Queen made a very encouraging debut in May, running green for the first half of the race, before finishing best of all to come home in a close 3rd. Tudor Queen's second run was at Newmarket where she raced against a competitive field. She jumped awkwardly from the stalls and was slightly outpaced but a step up in trip will see her improve. Her next two runs, at Haydock and Carlisle saw good improvement, in the latter running on strongly to finish third.
