Location: Oxfordshire. Oliver Cole, better known as Oli, joined his father Paul on the training licence in 2020, bringing a wealth of knowledge from his years as a bloodstock consultant. His father Paul was Champion Trainer in 1991, the year Generous won the Epsom Derby, the Irish Derby and the King George.
Father and son trained together for five years before Oli took over the licence completely in 2025. Group success soon followed as Dr Rascal stormed to victory in the Vintage Stakes (Gr 2) at Glorious Goodwood the following season.
Whatcombe Stables was established in 1897 and with over 450 acres of private downland, it is home to some of the best grass gallops in the country. Oli has developed a reputation as a shrewd judge and an innovative trainer with an individual approach to every horse.
