Harry’s Introduction…

It’s all happening with runners galore and there have been some really thrilling results for team HTR since our last newsletter. But there is so much more to come especially when the rains eventually arrive to ease the very fast ground which is holding some of our horses back.

August and September will be the busiest months runner wise of the year so buckle up everyone and enjoy the ride!

With my best wishes,

Harry Herbert

HORSE IN FOCUS

Mojito makes a stir at Herridge

This beautifully put together filly has recently progressed to faster work and her action and ability has pricked a few ears in the Richard Hannon camp. It won’t be long until we see this filly make her debut, all being well, and with only one share remaining she really is an opportunity not to be missed if you are looking for some action on the track in the near future!

Merchant rains supreme at Glorious Goodwood

It has been a busy and rewarding month on the track, with our team of horses producing no shortage of action and success for our owners. From Group winners at major festival meetings to numerous two-year-olds getting off the mark in style, it really has been a fantastic few weeks to remember!

DIARY ENTRY

A Glorious Goodwood through the lens of Harry Herbert

Goodwood has been a happy hunting ground since I started Highclere. We have won the Richmond Stakes (Gr. 2) with Prolific, the Goodwood Cup with Distinction, and this year we were thrilled to bits to win our second Gordon Stakes (Gr. 3) with Merchant, who followed in the footsteps of the mighty Harbinger, who won the race in 2009.

owner experience

Highclere as a first time owner

Highclere has fully delivered on its client centric approach to share ownership in racehorses.  All team members proactively take very seriously (and with smiles) the flow of information and assist beyond as need be, both remotely and in person, to the share owner.

The trainers encountered all seem to take very seriously the care of the Highclere horses in training with them, communicating to owners on horse progress and racing opportunities. It is clear they value highly their relationship with Highclere and the quality horses that Highclere are able to source and entrust to them.

DIARY ENTRY

A trip to Tweenhills Stud

Recently we were fortunate enough to be part of an exclusive visit at Tweenhills Stud where guests enjoyed an intimate parade of elite stallions, top-quality yearlings and foals.

Set over 800 acres of prime stock rearing grassland in the heart of the rolling Gloucestershire countryside, Tweenhills is home to some of the worlds top bloodstock, from stallions, yearlings to mares and foals. Tweenhills boasts an impressive roster of stallions, including Zoustar, Kameko and Lightening Spear. We were privileged to get up close to two of these horses.

Goodwood 2025….a day never to forget…

Goodwood 2025….a day never to forget…Merchant battling through thunderous conditions to make it a third back-to-back win this season.

Having parked up in the O & T car park at Goodwood last Thursday 31 July, the heavens opened for the first time that day, so we stayed firmly put until the heavy rain had abated. Kitted out in our rain macs which was hardly the normal Goodwood attire, we ventured forth for a happy and exciting day’s racing to support Merchant, who was racing in his first Group race, namely the Gordon Stakes G3.

LIMITED EDITION HIGHCLERE WATCH

Bamford Watch Department produce a Highclere Thoroughbred Racing limited edition watch

Earlier in the year I asked my friend George Bamford who owns Bamford Watch Department whether he could produce a Highclere Thoroughbred Racing limited edition watch in pale blue with our logo discreetly positioned on the face. After much discussion the first watches were delivered recently (see pic) and we all couldn’t be more delighted with the outcome. If you haven’t already bought one you can do so by calling the office but hurry as we only had a small number made. Each one is priced at £375 and comes in a very smart Bamford/Highclere box.

Rolf’s Ramblings

Tale of Two Temples – racing could be sacrificed on a false morality altar

“All Doumen gloom for the Duke” was the headline which fitted, precisely, the centrefold of two pages of racing in the tabloid Daily Express the day after the 1994 Boxing Day King George VI Chase at Kempton. Nowadays, barring the Sun, which boasts a racing supplement, racing coverage in our newspapers is buried and unlikely to be exhumed.

TAITTINGER MOMENT

Isidore’s 100th winner!

Taittinger moment this month was secured by Isidore who reached a century of winners with Highclere when Respond put in a determined effort to get his head in front at Haydock last weekend.

100 wins is a serious milestone and we thank him for his loyalty and commitment to Highclere. Roll on the next 100 winners!!
