Rhapsody

Hear from Katharine Whitaker, reflecting on Rhapsody’s run in the Group 3 Meadow Court Stakes at the Curragh in Ireland. A group of 10 owners made the trip across the Irish sea, and cheered home Rhapsody to a valiant second place against a very strong field.

Wow Rhapsody your performance at the Curragh, what a thrill! Those opening lyrics from Bohemian Rhapsody keep running through my mind. “Is this the real life”? “Is this just fantasy”?

She finished second in a Group 3, her first run at that level, which for all of us there was as good as a win! It definitely didn’t stop us from going overboard shouting her home!

A smiling joking Ryan Moore before and after the race was good to see! It was especially interesting to hear his positive comments on Rhapsody’s performance.

I was so impressed with the Curragh racecourse, everyone so friendly and, dare I say it, polite. Two young lads insisted Colin and I take their seats at the front of the stands, although maybe that was a reflection on us looking as though we’ve left our younger days well behind us! Anyone who has a chance to go racing at the Curragh, do go, it’s a very special place.

A very big thank you to Megan Bulbulia and Mark Kershaw for looking after us on the day and for keeping our glasses filled.

But of course, the biggest thank you goes to Rhapsody for running her four white socks off,and to the Haggas team for getting her to the Curragh in such great shape to enable her to run at her best.
